Multifamily Mixed-Use Development
India
Skyon is a 22 acre sustainable residential development composed of five 9-13 story buildings and one 39-story iconic tower, organized around a community green space. The central clubhouse is a minimal sculptural form with swimming pools nestled into the landscape. Adjacent are a 9-hole golf course, outdoor play areas and garden landscape from which the single tower rises at one end of the site. Jogging and bicycling trails weave through the site and link facilities, which, in combination with site planning that holds vehicular traffic to the perimeter of the site, creates a pedestrian oasis in an otherwise chaotic offsite environment. This slender and elegant residential tower, that anchors the site’s western edge, is a simple composition of four stacked units radiating from a rectangular core. The organization of the tower plan is based on the design of the Hindu symbol for good luck. This layout enables each unit to have unobstructed views in three directions. Balconies are modulated on the façade to create an undulating origami that provides visual interest and optimal sun-shading. Sustainability is woven throughout the design of buildings and site and the complex is designed to meet LEED Gold standards.
