The Solea
Washington, DC
Solea is a sixty-two unit condominium building located in an emerging urban area of downtown Washington DC and targeted towards workforce and low-income purchasers. Over 20 percent of the units are designed as live-work units with a mission to incubate and preserve local micro-businesses and start-up neighborhood businesses. Units range in size from 800sf to 1200sf. The top floor units have two levels with access to private roof decks.
Sustainability was a key concern throughout the planning and design of the Solea. The project is designed to LEED Gold standards, including the use of an urban infill site, providing for alternative means of transportation, use of recycled materials, energy efficient mechanical systems, water saving plumbing fixtures, and reflective roofing materials. In this area, as in its overall design and construction, the Solea strikes a balance between cost consciousness to preserve affordability and creativity and innovation that allow it to contribute to the urban fabric of the neighborhood and the city.
